Why wasn’t an audio cable included with my 10Xtreme to connect to my sound card?

Due to the large number of different sound cards on the market today, there was no way we could include a CD audio cable. To purchase a CD audio cable, contact Pacific Interconnections at (800) 706-0510 or contact your local audio cable dealer. The included CD audio cable is to connect the 10Xtreme to the included IDE controller. You can then run another cable from that to your sound card’s LINE-IN jack.

Can I use my existing IDE controller? Or do I have to use the controller card that was included with the 10Xtreme?

You can use your existing IDE controller granted that it is an EIDE (Enhanced IDE) controller and it can accommodate another IDE device. If you have only one IDE hard drive, set the drive configuration jumper on the 10Xtreme to SLAVE (see page 43 of User’s Guide).
