FAQs FOR PINNACLE MICRO RCD DRIVES USING WINDOWS NT

1.Why doesn't my RCD-1000/5020 or 5040 have a drive letter assigned to them in MY COMPUTER/FILE MANAGER?

These drives are not CD ROM drives but actually WORM drives and NT does not have the drives for them. NT4.0 will require you to install service pack 3 to see them as CD ROM drives. NT3.51 will require the installation of service pack 5. When installing either service pack make sure that your drive is connected to the system and powered up before starting to install the service pack.

2.What CD writing software do I need when upgrading my system to Windows NT4.0?

If you have been using Adaptec Easy CD Pro software you will need version 2.0,If you have been using Corel CD Creator you will need to contact Adaptec at 1-800-442-7274 and you can purchase an upgrade for the Corel software that will work with NT4.0. Adaptec also has a new software package called Easy CD Creator v3.0 that will work with NT4.0. For NT3.51 the older versions of the software mentioned above will work with your operating system. The new Adatpec Easy CD Creator v3.0 will not.

3.Can I use an Adaptec 2940 Ultra Wide SCSI controller with the Pinnacle Micro RCD drives?

No, the ultra wide controller will not work with the Pinnacle Micro RCD drives because you cannot set the
DMA Data Transfer rate to 5MB/Sec, the lowest rate that the wide controller can be set to is 10MB/sec.
The controller will seem to work but if you are doing a large CD burn you will get a buffer underrun error
due to the DMA Data Transfer miss match.
