Tips on using your
Optical Drive
Windows 95/NT:
- Always
prepare your media in Windows NT from
Disk Administrator.
- For better
cross platform media compatibility, use
512 byte/sector media.
- There are no
special drivers needed for your Optical Drive under
Windows 95 or NT 3.5.1/4.0, the native drivers
are included with both the operating
systems.
- Most Unix systems and
Netware only support 512 byte/sector media.
- The Apex and Vertex
drives do not support 600mb/650mb/1.2gb/1.3gb
media.
- Disc Archive97 can
be used to perform attended backups to any of our
optical drives.

Tips on using your RCD-4x4 Recordable CD
|
- To avoid buffer
underruns, disable any programs that run in the
background. For example, AntiVirus programs,
Scheduler programs, screen savers, or Indexing
programs.
- Set your SCSI host
adapter to a transfer rate of 5 mb/s for the
SCSI ID your drive is set to. In addition, disable
synchronous negotiations, fast SCSI and Ultra
SCSI features depending on your controller. This
is done in the host adapters bios.
- CD to CD copy is not
supported using an IDE CD-ROM with all CD mastering
software. Consult the software designer for
compatibility information.
- Suggested media:
Sony, Verbatim, DOT, Taiyo Yuden, Mitsubishi.

Tips on using your Jukebox System
|
|
Alta75 and Alta40 jukeboxes must have
termination power supplied by the host to work
properly. The drives in the jukebox will not load or unload
media if a terminator is installed and termination
power is not supplied by the host. For standalone testing,
you can either remove the external terminator or
make sure it is connected to a host which is powered on.

| Autochgr.exe |
This
program will allow you to change the mode pages
of the jukebox drives as needed. Click on the
link to the left to download the Autochanger
Jukebox program. |
|
System Requirements |
| You will need a PC with an Adaptec SCSI
controller. If you are running DOS or Windows 3.1x, you
will need the ASPI device drivers in your CONFIG.SYS. If
you are running Windows 95, you just need to make sure
the SCSI controller is installed and working in Windows
95. |
| |
| Installation Instructions |
- Connect
the jukebox to the SCSI controller.
- Power
on the PC.
- Power
